The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, today announced a package of financial measures designed to help the commercial transport industry, including Road Tax for HGV’s to be frozen.
Good news for HGV’s for the next 12 months. Vehicle licence duty for commercial trucks will remain as per 2010.
Fuel stabiliser to be introduced – Mr Osborne announced the government will do away with the current fuel duty escalator. Instead a fair fuel stabiliser will be introduced.
1p off litre of fuel – From 6pm 23rd March 2011 fuel duty will be cut by 1p per litre.
Fuel Plan Delayed – An expected inflation-linked rise in the fuel duty was delayed until next year.
These announcements will come as good news to every driver in the UK but especially welcome news to the haulage and associated industries that are already beleaguered by spiralling fuel costs.
